Well if i see someone behind me and i know they are heading towards the enterance then i find it kinda a must to hold it for a couple seconds and wait for them, I dont think there is any hard fast rule or exact timing :k:

P.S I agree with SHAK :smiley:

If someone’s coming right after me, I hold while i’m getting out but I usually don’t wait. If it’s an older person, someone with a baby or a lot of stuff- I would open and wait- doesn’t matter how long, and offer to help with stuff *gives good image of hijabis, haha :smiley:

What a question... Well it depends. All you need is to let the person pass the door. if too many people in group behind you, then no need to hold for everyone. Give it to the first person of that group and go. Just use common sense.

On a different note: Just leave the door while the person is still passing? Boom! :D

Hold it until they reach the door and grab it themselves, after that you are free to go.

almost always hold it open for men and women alike... the small pleasantries don't really cost anything in our already hectic routines.

  • when someone is walking in the same direction as me... my threshold is that they're within 20 steps or so - unless of course I see their hands busy with carrying stuff... in that case I wait a little longer.

  • when someone is entering and I'm exiting, the hold time decreases a little bit - say 5 - 10 steps away - same exception as above applies here too.

I hold the door open as i enter my building, taht way the person who comes in ahead of me...will open the door and hold it open for me :D

hold if the person behind you is so close that if not held, it'll bang on his/her face .. but let go once he/she has the door in his/her hand ...
i dont hold the door for people coming from the opposite direction.
