I need some advice: I’m getting a saree (for a wedding) for the first time in my life, and I’m confused how long I should make the blouse - I don’t want to flash my belly around (indian style), nor look too conservative. Where on my blouse/hips should my blouse end to look decent?

Depending on how tall you are, your blouse can be anything between 14 to 18 inches. If you want all covered, the blouse goes a little below your natural waist line.

thank you for your reply! Should I measure from shoulder down to my belly button? Or lower?

It is less about the length of the blouse than how it fits you, how you drape and carry your sari. Make sure you try on the blouse and the sleeves should fit well ie not baggy
Even Aishwarya Rai wore a longer length blouse to Cannes, I believe. Sonam Kapoor has been spotted wearing such blouses many times as well.
