my cousins kids had chicken pox, her youngest had it over a week ago now and shes says hes ok now but with little left on his scalp…not sure what she means. anyhow we are having a party on sunday and shes brining them. i have 2 kids and im worried theyl catch it. is still contagious? after over a week? i wouldnt usually be so worried but im flying out on 21st march…and im worried if my kids get it, how willi go…will they be able to fly…or will they recover in time? who knows im worried sick. plus symtoms usually show after 2 weeks. so icant even breathe a sigh of relief even fter a week or so..

Have your girls not received the varicella/chicken pox vaccination? There usually is one dose at 12 months, right?
Chicken pox is most easily spread about 2-3 days before the rash appears until all the blisters have crusted over. It can spread from sneezes, coughs, shared food/drinks or touch.
If this child’s blisters have pretty much disappeared and dried out, you should be okay.

I think the vaccine works..all three of my boys have gotten it, and nary a pox! Don’t know of many kids that do get the chicken pox anymore since public schools and the state all strictly require the varicella vaccination now.

Oh okay, well in that case hopefully the kids will be fine. Sounds like the danger period is over now anyway.
