When someone gifts you one , I assume your remove its covering , flip the little sachet in some water and put them in a vase along with the water … do you do anything else other then watching them every day? … how long do they survive before its time to throw them away ?

I've had roses last as long as 2 weeks!!
Give them fresh cool water each day. Cut a little bit off the end of the stem every day too - cut at an angle to mazimize its ability to drink the water.
If you have room in your refrigerator, put them in there at night.
Half a baby aspirin in the water.
Some say 2 to 3 drops of bleach in the water revives wilting flowers and gives longer life but i never tried that one.

It depends alot on the types of flowers too. Good flowershop quality roses last about 10 days to 2 weeks. Carnations will also last a while. Cheap walmart kind wont last that long for us.
