I’m not getting married for about another two years, but I do LOVE going through this forum and learning about all the bridal fashions. However, I am left wondering…will the current styles that I adore (the long kameezes, the flowy dresses) still be in style 2 years from now? How long do these styles tend to stick around? I remember a few years ago the short short kameezes were in and now they are completely obsolete.
I really LOVE the current styles and would love to wear those long, flowy styles at my wedding, but if it’s out of style, I don’t want to look completely outdated
Bridal "fashion" is just like any other type of fashion. There's something "new and exciting" every season. Just like any other outfit, if you choose something that "in fashion" right now, it will look outdated a few years from now. That's why when it comes to being a bride, I'm a huge fan of doing something "traditional" on the main day.
Traditional looks are timeless.....no one will look at a bride with a traditional outfit and think "oh that was in fashion like 5 years ago.".
Lol fashion changes I would say every 6 months. I went to Pakistan in FEBRUARY this year and bought my outfits for November (now February 2011) as soon as I come back from pakistan the new trend was long kameeza with flowy tops and stuff!! I was kind of gutted, but then I look at my outfit, and its traditional and timeless. Plus I am really short, so a shirt the length I have got made is perfect :)
I think as long as you rock whatever you wear, and it's unique - who cares if its in fashion or not! because it wil be out of fashion one day anyway! Long kameeza is trend that seems to filter in and out of the fashion industry and can look abit silly when its not in the catwalks, however short kameeza tend to stick around!
That's exactly what I was thinking! I'm in the UK and getting married in Pak in December. I was contemplating buying my barat outfit from here but was talked out of it by relatives saying that the lehngas here are from India and are different from what you get in Pak or might be totally out of fashion by the time you wear it! So don't know what to do now!
Stick to what YOU like or to the more classic fashions. I personally really dislike the long top with the lengha fashion in Pakistan. It just looks really weird.
fashion def changes every 6 months-- as long as u can learn to expect that, you'll be ok! i would def try to wait as long as you can (without being at the point of panicking) to get your dress, if staying in fashion is important to you!
