^i think that is entirely a different case....it's common for inlaws to not praise the dulhan. I hope I wont face such situations when I'm there!!
I don't think its common to not receive praise. I guess it varies from family to family. Some shower with praise even if food is bad. I remember I had made some salen in my in laws when I 1st got married and i got praise for it. And as I am NOT used to cooking in pak, some different ingredients etc....I tried to make sumthing im so good at here...but it was horrible when I made it there...but no one said anything. My husband as well as MIL ate it...hehe..and even said very good.
