How long can these "Minority" actors in Hollywood keep playing stereotypical roles?

For Indian and Asian actors, it’s one stereotypical role after the other. If they are Asian, then it’s Kung Fu master, underground car racing gang leader, store clerk, accountant or some other asexual character.

If they are Indian, then it’s guy or girl stuck in arranged marriage, doctor, accountant, or store clerk. Often it’s also funny foreign guy who speaks crazy, often played by Kall Penn.

Let’s not even talk about poor Arab actors, they are stuck with one role only.

Seems like their acting career just goes no where. I can’t really understand their motivation behind doing this.

Acting is a passion. Sometimes, you've just gotta do what you've gotta do.

I've played a couple minority roles (mostly Arab, but then I'm half Arab), for independent films-- but then I've also played other, more mainstream roles. It really depends on the script and the plot of the film.

We should also consider that we are a minority in the country, and comparatively a smaller, newer one than say... african americans. Once we're accepted and expected to be in this country, and viewed as having been fully assimilated, I'm sure that doors will open up to us in many more venues.

That's precisely why Amitabh never accepted any Hollywood offers in his career as they offered him sardar type roles.

Do UK TV shows show anything different? Desis are more visible over there.

Desi actors aren't 'flourishing' here either. They are seen in soaps, tv shows but aren't as successful as other white mainstream actors.

and they are given the typical stereotypical roles. eastenders is going to show arranged marriage how typical
