How kosher are you ?

In your kitchen antics :aq:

I vaguely remember that in our house the untensils for milk and cooking food were kept separrate. I asked once and mother told ke we should use different utensil for milk and for cooking food. I am positive that she was not aware that it is common requirement in jewish kitchen where kosher sensibility is practised.

I got to know about this kosher rule quite recently. I do believe in observing kosher rules. there is some wisdom therein

You mean washing with soap and water is not enough to make things useable in Kitchen for multipurposes?

Seems jews had laws where some nijus(filth) got on their clothes…then that portion of the cloth would have to be cut off completely to make it Kosher again…were you aware of that?
Not only separate utensils but I have seen separate Kitchens in Jewish homes.

I am not aware of this relating to religious practises, but in my mum;s kitchen woe betide you if you use the milk pan for other foods!!! The milk pans strictly to be used for milk, tea and other milky dishes like kheer etc. I think its something to do with perceiving an after-smell in the pans. I more or less follow that as its ingrained in my mind.

Re: How kosher are you ?

kosher is different than halal, no?

Re: How kosher are you ?
