Glad your talking a venture into Pashto… it is a difficuilt and harsh language… but one well worth investing time to learn. It is also a very old and distinct language and also very beautifull to speak and hear spoken.
If your asking the health of fammiliar a Male in Pashto you must say…
Kah sehath Walary
^ It means how are you… but you only speak like this to a freind… otherwise you might cause offence.
If your asking fammiliar a female it is similar but you have to change the first word so it sounds like…
Keeh Sehath Walary
When asking the health of an elder, respected individual or any stranger then dont be so jovial you might prefer to say…
Jor aaw rogh osey
^ this means you wish them good health. Alternatively you could also say…
Teh Singa Jee?
^Which means… how are you?
If you want to say get well soon it’s…
Istaya Lareal
and if your asking someone if they have had food (dinner) then depending on the situation heres two things you could say…
When I was young and full of trouble I was taught Maala Papaa Rakaaa… Which is childish Pashto for “gimme some food”… danger here is that Papaa can also be misunderstood for “kiss” and you could end up in trouble if you say this to a female… ![]()
If your asking someone if they have had dinner I am not too sure on this one… ![]()
I never really cooked you see…
Okay serriously I will come back to this one for you.
Oh and good luck with your studies. ![]()

Re: how is your health ? what will be pasto of this.
how is my father and mother ?
what will be pashto of this ?
Re: how is your health ? what will be pasto of this.
Well you could use the bit I said earlier...
Teh Singa Jee? ^Which means... how are you?
If you want to say.... How are you father?
Simply add the word Father or Mother at the end.... Plar is Father and Mor is mother.
So if you want to say how are you father say... Teh Singa Jee Plar?
Brother if you seriously want to learn Pashto invest some time and money in a course or perhaps by an online downlodable dictionary or video guide.
One thing to note is like many languages Pashto has regional dialects as well so there can be multiple ways of saying the same thing... the above are the most commen terms I know but they are not unique and many people will tell you a score of other ways all of which are fine.
Thenx Brother
But my Grandfather knows Pasto very well but i am living seperate from him due to my job location.

Re: how is your health ? what will be pasto of this.
Pashto for I am missing you is a good question… I will have to get back to you on this one.
I know I love you in Pashto if that helps…
It’s… za la ta sara meena kawom… if your saying it to a female.
and…za la ta sara kawom… for a male. Hope that helps somewhat. ![]()
As a Pashto friend once told me… Yahwah Zabaan heskla bus nada… one language is not enough. ![]()
I am inspired to open up a few usefull phrases threads for fellow polyglots.![]()
