When we read history of subcontinent a very amazing question arises. Islam in this region came from perisa, and most of the muslim living in this region converted from anyother to islam.
Now the question is, persians are not arab so from where does so many ‘syed’ people came.? There are more ‘syed’ in india/pakistan than anyother place!
We know and quran confirms that prophet Mohammed pbuh is not a father to any. So what is the concept behind ‘syed’.

The family of the Prophet also includes members from her daughters families ? As well as his cousins and so on.
I am not well versed in this though. A lot of syed's are probably just 'by-name' syeds.
I knew this one Syed (she was our english teacher in 6th grade) who claimed to be able to see tree's bow down on lailatul kadr and what not. I still find that funny :)

A progeny is followed by male not female, a common sense!. ''Plus Allah says hes not a father to any of you.'' And I believe Allah said because people will try to associate themselves to prophet.

Arabs arived before Persians.
There was a province attached to the Baghdad Caliphate in Dehli, which eventually formed into it's own sultanate.
The arrival of Islam in South India was marked by Arab sea traders, and was not really associated with any invasion.
The point is, Islam did not strictly arrive in India with the Trukic invaders...

*They are descendent of Prophet (SAW) through Imam Hasan (RA) and Imam Hussain (RA). *
[Note: Descendents of Ali (RA) that are not from Hasan (RA) and Hussain (RA) call themselves Alavies, not Syeds].
For a person to be descendent it does not matter that the child is son or daughter, or that if grandchild is from son or daughter. Actually, child from a son can be doubtful as for that child to be descendent, one have to trust the wife of the son. Regarding child of a daughter, there can be no doubt that the child is descendent, as no human trust (like wife of son) is involved. That is the reason, Jewish community accept a Jew to be true Jew only if the mother of the Jew was a Jew. If a child is born of a Jew father and non-Jew mother, Jew does not consider that person a true Jew.
Thus, it is only ignorant that consider that children from sons are descendents and children from daughters are not descendents. Allah, Islam nor Biology discriminate between sons and daughters, and thus children from sons or daughters, they are all descendent of a person. As for verse of Quran that says that ‘Prophet (SAW) is not father of any man amongst you’, there is no doubt about that, as Prophet (SAW) was not father of any man amongst Quraish as all of his male children died young. Regardless, that does not mean that Prophet (SAW) had no descendent.
Why there are so many ‘Syeds’ in Indian-Subcontinent?
The answer is obvious. Read History. At many occasions, Umayyad and Abbasids persecuted Syeds [descendent of Prophet (SAW)] in the areas they controlled. Many Umayyad and Abbasids khalifs considered them as political threat. This persecution was most in areas that are now Arabic speaking. Non-Arabic speaking areas, including sub-continent became safe heaven for Syeds from the persecution of Umayyad and Abbasids. Thus, many Syeds migrated to these areas, where they lived peacefully and preached Islam without getting involved in politics. They flourished peacefully too, and thus we have many Syeds in Indian-subcontinent (India/Pakistan).

In genetics you can only trace male desendants thru the fathers genes. If I have a daughter, she can only possess 2 X chromosomes...ie my mothers X and my husbands mothers X. If I have a son, he will have my husbands Y chromosome which links my son to my husbands paternal line. Thus since The Prophet pbuh did not have any male heirs, the Quran states that he is not your father. The children of Fatima have a link to Imam Ali and not to Prophet Mohamed pbuh

We are talking about father to son link. In the same thread there is a dispute in what is claimed by the Da Vinci Code. it is fine to claim Jesus had a daughter... the dispute will lie in claiming that the daughters offspring are connected to Jesus. The daughter can only be traced to Mary Magdalenes matriarchial side and also that of Mary mother of Jesus.
