^ Old saying..it wasn't for the love of the "MMA" but for the hatred of "Armika"
Although many leftist politico's will say they won on the votes of "angels" a euphemism for rigging..another comment made is the MMA is the the result of 25 years of social re-engineering to marginalise progressive politicians in NWFP.

haan bhai toh kar lo elect on the basis of dislike of someone. I had said the same when BB ran on the platform that her dad's death must be avenged...karro voting..dont ask about other points.
Our politicians polarize the masses to have them fight on non issues..no one bothers to present real plans on issues ranging frome conomy ot education to healthcare.
I even met the gen secretary of PML (N) in Illinois, I asked him what his party's plans were or views were on a host of things, clown did not know. O bhai toh either your party does not have a real vision or a plan, otherwise u are just a vanity officer and are doing a disservice to your party by being completely ignorant about what your party's platform is aside from "what happened to nawaz was unafir, we have to correct it"
fine bhai...but why should I elect you?
if jazbaati ppl had not voted in NWFP in a reactionary manner and would have bothered to ask some questions about what the MMA plans were, and even afterwards press them to post their accomplishment aside form ripping posters and breakign cds.
For all the supporters of diff parties, i had a thread here asking them to post the platform and plans of their parties. u know how much detail I got..zilch.
karro elect phir non-issues and reactionary basis par..
Fraudz, Politics will always be about action and reaction, more so in Pakistan because the state targets opposition members quite viciously (what is separate is whether they deserve it or not). In case of the PML (N) sec general ..I would say his appointment is solely because of his loyalty to the Sharifs, the man can’t win his own constituency so forget about casting your vote for or against him
Practically it is unrealistic to expect any opposition group to formulate policies if it’s under constant attack and if the government in power has shown it will spare no expense and force in stopping it from coming to power.
As far as the MMA is concerned, I think the peoples reaction was predictable in retrospect, becase of ethnic and cultural ties Afghanistan had a very powerful effect. When the government in power tells the people of NWFP for a good 20 years that the people in Afghanistan are great heroes and ghazis and then dumps them, you can’t expect the ordinary people not to react in whatever way they can? Us against them politics is very basic stuff after all, it’s been done everywhere from Baluchistan and Bangladesh in the '70’s to Karachi in the 90’s.
Ahmadjee: If your going according to what they campaigned on, most of it was vague unsubstantitive stuff, i think the MMA will take a big hit in the next election. But, remember previously in NWFP they’d be lucky to win a handful of provincial seats so even if they lose half their MP’s that would steal be a lot more then they are used too.
so let people deal with the consequences of their decisions..maybe in future they will be more careful about who they cast their votes for and why.
as far as state targetting opposition, if it has been going on all along then by now both parties and voters should have learnt to bypass that.
pakistani elections are about slogans, ethnic "justice", and like WWF rivalries. to say that there is anything more to it would be giving the political parties more credit.
People are not demanding real plans policies and all from political parties, why would a political party waste its time even developing a policy.

You should preach that to the ISI, which has always loved to meddle with politics in the country. They have created terrorist groups, destroyed governments, killed innocent people and yet we still see them enjoying the riches of their looting. ISI is the father of MMA.
