It’s interesting to note that once the extremism in Punjab was beyond the level of controlling.There were even specualtions of a secession.The extremists were inflicting huge casualities on both the Government and on the public.Their hands even stretched up to Delhi.they even dared to kidnap the ambassaor of Romania. There were train massacres in which terrorists even did not spare children. Punjab was taken for a ride by some who called for a seperae state called Khalistan'.The arms and ammunitions were pouring in to Punjab **from the plain blue** **SKY**.But nearly a decade long struggle came to a halt after the security forces adopted the policy of tit for tat’.That meant the same extremist’s family who once targeted the family of security fores were targeted. Border infiltrations were kept at bay.Rigorius measures were taken by the security forces in quelling the armed struggle.Their efforts did not go invain. The spinal chord of terrorism was mercilessly crushed.Normalcy returned to the state.Many of the terrorist leaders were either killed or caught.Many of them escaped to the Western countries and some jumped over the fence.There were `widespread concerns’ of human rights violations.But the ruling machinary and the system remained intact and together. Today Punjab is the most affluent and the booming state in India.

Khalistan movement was destined to fail, because they wanted to carve out the state not just from Indian Punjab but also Pakistani Punjab. Pakistan could not have supported people who would tomorrow be fighting Pakistan itself. (nevertheless, we did do it in case of Taliban)

Folks, this is the truth about the mindset of hindus. He is bragging about the way india prevented secession in punjab by using brutal tactics and human rights violations against sikhs.
Now keep in mind that if there was no partition, the muslims of sindh, muslim-majority west punjab, bengal and pakhtunkhwa would also be fighting for their freedom now from hindu-dominated government rule. In that scenario, these hindus would have tried the same brutal tactics against us and would have justified it as necessary in the name of preventing secession and keeping the country united.

The Khalistan movement never had any grass roots support. It was all funded from Canada & Pakistan. Pakistan tried very hard to support/train the Khalistani terrorists and keep the movement going, however with the tough stance adopted by Indian govt and the lack of local support, the movement just fizzled out.
