=How important is Weather/climate to you?

When you decide to move to a place which you know would be a permanant residence of yours?
Would you make major life decisions around that , or it doesn’t bother you much…You are pretty adaptable to any outside temperatures?

Another factor to consider with the Climate are the transportation …(harder to get around in snow etc), missed days from work etc.

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

important, but has to be factored in with the rest of the package. network, lifestyle, opportunity, friends/family, cultural/social opportunities.

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

I don't like creepy crawlies so I won't ever move to a hot/tropical place permanantly and I also hate city life so it'd be somewhere in country.

For some Climate may be 30 % of the package ....for others may be 2%...so what is yours?

For example if anyone is planning to move permanantly to a place that is like the Antartica...the lifestyle is impacted a lot in that situation ..wouldn't you say so?

But on the other hand if the friends/family , cultural/social oppurtunities are concerned...they may rank higher...but again its a for life sort of decision.

:cb:…So Brazil is out of question. I havent lived in a humid tropical place as of yet…But whenever I have visited such a place…No good hairdays there:D

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

Only if you have a choice.

Not a good answer...............

you supposed be a Man with a Plan!

Who wants to work.....................life would nice living on a beach!

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

to an area, not that important, but how far/close to work and important things, thats important.. also the route to take.. for example, while moving in this place, i had alternate option to two blocks closer to work.. i picked this one, cuz the traffic/road is better.. other one was closer but gets more traffic congestion..

no hard and fast rules or percentages.

if someone offered me a role with a million bucks each year, I will move to alaska.
but if its close enough, then there is no point.

like would somoene want to move to middle east for a net $20K increase, I would not, if the net is $150K hmmm then riyadh starts looking very nice.

its an all things being equal thing, then you really find out what places you personally like.

i have thought long and hard but sadly there is no city that is an ideal city for me, mix bits and pieces of london, rome, nyc, chicago, san francisco, hongkong, LA in a place that has all seasons, moderate summers, mild winters with snow.

sadly no such place exists.

If someday I win a bazzillion dollar lotto, I would probably want to live in diff parts of the world a few months here a few months there.

I am un urbanite, country escapes are good every so often, but I like big cities.

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

I live in cold climate, even coldest day I can put cloths on and go running.
In pakistan, in summer, Its not possible unless its early in the morning or late at night.
So I guess too hot is not good.

except when you have 2 feet of snow on the ground..then u cant go running, i mean u can but it would be more hopping than running. :)

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

i hate winter, summer is the best! lol :dhimpak:

:lifey:I so agree to that. In my consulting days that is what I used to tell the head hunters, if the money is right I will go to Alaska.

someone who has passion towards science .. a weather scientist, a geologist, some other weird profession, for him/her Antarctica might be the next best place after heaven to live.

So it depended upon the cash compensations, passion, and such factors too

That makes sense...Everyone has their own prefrences about where to settle and what is offered.
I think about the long term impact of living at such a place (from a woman's perspective) for example raising kids in lets say a place where 70-80 % its cold. Taking them to the doctor...school...everyday things may become harder then a place that has 4 distinct seasons and not 2 cold and really really cold....literally in a place like Alaska. I would think whats the use of all the money ...life in Alsaka still stinks no mater how many vacations one can take to the warm beaches or where ever..you still go back to the same place. After a couple of the sunless days the nights that last months...is it worth all the money...but then again humans get used to the cold and prefer it.

Work related...but life related wise...I know some humans choose to live there because I would say for them regular living is meaningless and they have to feed their curiousity and make a living too:)

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

living in extreme weather makes you tough and resilient.

Re: =How important is Weather/climate to you?

weather doesn't matter for me

what is considered hard is relative.
humans are resilient, they thrive in all kinds of settings.
weather is just on consideration, terrain is another.
one of my flatlander kansan pals moved to colorado and had trouble learning to drive on inclines and steep curves especially when its snowing, but now he is all set and it does not bother him.

In scandinavian countries u have times when its liek 17-23 hrs of night time and then its 17-23 hours of day time...ppl party like crazy:D
