Re: How important is language in an ARRANGED marriage?
I think I am not made for arranged marriages :(
It's okay, Inspi. You don't need to talk anyways. Women should be seen and not heard....as the old saying goes. :p

Actually no
Don't you show your affection towards your loved one with your body? In east asia you bow to your elders and that shows respect, same with eye contact.
Those who don't make eye contact whats so ever are the ones who are "damaged" per say.
I know I use my own form of sign language towards the ones who I love.
The way a person is around you how they react towards you with their body, whether it be bowing, blushing or even a simple wave it means much more than the noise we create.
Re: How important is language in an ARRANGED marriage?
Well it is so simple you know - you speak the language you are comfortable with and let the other speaks the language he/she comfy with ...
So eventually , after a period of time , both partners develop better understanding of the language his/her partner speaks ...
what I don't like about most of the people here .. They just want to start with every thing ticked in Yes on their checklists ... well the bloody life doesnt work in that way..
You get two and you work to get another two ..... If Haleem get made in 15 minutes - it must be shyte ...
Time and patience .... and little less conversation and little more actions please , that's what Mr Elvis Presley ordered :D
Re: How important is language in an ARRANGED marriage?
I don't think the question is 'how important is language in an arranged marriage', rather, 'how important is language in inspiron's marriage'. From your threads, it seems the first thing you freak out about when you get an proposal from someone who grew up in Pak is the language issue... it's obviously quite important to you. I get the feeling that even a desi accent will grate on you (even if the communication is fine), so I think maybe you should stop considering them altogether.
Re: How important is language in an ARRANGED marriage?
I always find it amazing that whenever my SO talks in Urdu and uses english words he has a pakistani accent... and tbh I find it hot
but I love diversity
why can't you?

well what my feeling is that u r pointing or referring towards a special situation, this sign thing can't be use all time, when u r sitting with more than 2 persons or in family gathering, will u still use this sign thing, no never

you can actually.
just like you can talk in different languages while the other person doesn't understand you.
It may be rude but its not impossible and I'm not implying or referring to a special situation. It happens all the time. Just because you've never come across it doesn't mean its rare.
Re: How important is language in an ARRANGED marriage?
Communication is key b/w a couple to keep the relationship healthy. Language, even though is a big part of of communication but its not the ONLY way to communicate.
In case both partners feel comfortable using different languages, it depends on how much efforts they are willing to put in their relation.

Maybe you are right stoppit. For me things like looks are not important i can look past an unattractive but the ability to communicate is really really important very high up on my list.
I would be more attracted to an ugly public speaker (in english) than a very handsome uncharismatic man.

^ So you would rather have a Cyrano than a Christian? That's admirable.
