How Important are S.A.T.'s???

Hey everyone, I want to hear your thoughts on this subject. How important are S.A.T. scores in your opinion? If you went to college, did the scores hold you back from attending the school you wanted? If yes, Why?

In my view: S.A.T. scores are somewhat important to me because a student should be tested on their knowledge before entering a college. College helps prepare us for life, whether we use all of the information given to us, or not. My S.A.T. scores were rather low, I’m not proud to say I got a 840 total. I know I would have gotten into a better school, possibly, with higher scores, but I did get into the college of my choice (thank goodness). What are everyone’s thoughts?

actually they are, i wish i had payed more attention in HS that i do now in college

im not saying that i slacked off the whole time, but i just didn't take education seriously around that time. but now i regret it and i didn't even try on S.A.T's thinking i might just start from going to a CC

They're pretty damn important depending on what school you want to go to. If your scores are high enough, then schools will be lining up at ur door regardless of your grades. I have a good friend who had a D average in HS with no extracuricullar activity and got a 1560 on his SATs. He got into Cornell with a hefty scholarship in tow.

In my case though, they didn't really matter since Pakistani med schools dont look at SATI only SATII. That sucks because I did much better on SATI .
