most of times it's hard to understand this .. that we are only his mere creations.
Some things are pre ordained by allah. Others we have some choice in. Sometimes one gets what they want if one prays to Allah and at other times it is not good for us to have what we desire. If the plans are in accordance with God's plans then yes plans do work out.
