People think you are talking from books. I'll give you an example of a well educated professional couple we know who has 2 kids. All of them are overweight and even their young kids are moving from cute to fat, so much so that they can't run in the park for a few minutes without getting tired. They have been asked to diet, but no. They think they kids need to be overfed otherwise they don't grow. I tried giving them examples politely but all they told me in the end was that my kids and all of us were weak!
So what do you do, keep shut!
For close family members, I am quite straight forward, whether they like it or not. They usually listen because my parents are both docs and I've also worked in the healthcare field for many years. So I scare them by quoting latest articles published in medical journals!
