Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Apostle said, “The Jews and the Christians do not dye (their grey hair), so you shall do the opposite of what they do (i.e. dye your grey hair and beards).”
Re: How far is this true..?
i thought it was the other way round...as in dont dye your hair??????
Re: How far is this true..?
Is it really important? Sometimes I wonder where our priorities are as far as religion is concerned.
Re: How far is this true..?
me too always thought it was not allowed to dye the hair....
Re: How far is this true..?
Wait can’t dye at all? or use Henna to dye, no artificial colors? ![]()
Re: How far is this true..?
What will the baldies do (to distinguish themselves from the baaaad christians and jews)?
Re: How far is this true..?
why is it so imp?. dye or not to dye...its personal preference!.. if we start seeing every single thing in this world with our religious eyes...phir to sab kuch ho geya!
Re: How far is this true..?
This Hadees is from Shahi Bukhai Book of 'Virtues and Merits of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions'
Number 668. It does not give any more details about what to use for dying your hair.

It is important to decide whether your wuzu will be valid or not if you use a hair dye which quotes your hair.
If it will be valid then the wuzu with nail polish and other kind of makeups should be valid too.
Re: How far is this true..?

This hadees does not have all those details. May be another hadees. If you know which one please post that one here with all the references.
thanks.

and i've heard that eemaan ka daaromaddaar neeyat per hai.. what if the neeyat is pure?.. prayer will not be valid? and wont be answered?

I belong to same school of thought you do. I was answering the question about why this hadees is important.
In my view this hadees is important to the extent that if wuzu of a man can be valid in spite of the fact that he has dyed his hair with something which quotes hair to change the color.
Then following the same line of reasoning the wuzu of women who has nail polish on nails on makeup should be valid too.
I think now a days there should be no reason for anybody to be hypocrite (munafiq) among the ranks of Muslims. So anybody who is prying namaz he/she is prying just for Allah. There might be some kids who would pray just to please their parents or some employees who would be praying to be in good books of bosses but a majority of praying Muslims pray with just one neeyat : To fulfill an obligation laid by Allah.

i hope this clears teh confusion
and intentions ofcourse matter
but when u have a clear way of life infront of u then y u wanna change it??
its the way he taught us take it or leave it its up to u
who is asking u to keep beard or dye ur hair as long as u dont want to
its completely ur choice
but dont try to prove the ahadeeths and quran wrong just bcuz u dont feel ok bout it
