how easy (or hard) is it?

my mom wants to invite her mamu to Toronto to visit for the summer. how hard/easy it? and what are the chances of a visa being granted?

Re: how easy (or hard) is it?

Visit visa shouldnt be that hard to get.. Your mamu would have to show a job verification letter/business papers ..It comes down to to showing proof of income and your mom would have to send him affidavit of support with her income verification..
Hope this helps..Good luck

Re: how easy (or hard) is it?

thnx for the info. the problem is, my mamu is retired (its my mom's mamu). Myself or my dad would be inviting him as my mom doesn't work. My mamu lives in lahore, has 3 grown kids (all married with kids).

Re: how easy (or hard) is it?

My brother invited parents to visit Toronto couple of times. Parents got the visa in Karachi in mail within a week. Thought my sister's visa was rejected.

My father is retired, but he had to submit his bank statement. My brother had to submit a sponsorship letter, copy of his passport and his employer's letter.

FedEx in Pak deals with Canadian visit visa services. Ask your relatives to visit FedEx, all the requirements are written on a notice board in front of the office.

Chances: I would say 70%. Usually elder people get it without hassle. Your mamu needs to show ties in Pak e.g., docs. of his house if he owns one there, car registration, tax returns etc.

Re: how easy (or hard) is it?

he doesn't own a car, but i think the home they live in is in his name. He's been retired for a couple of years. My mom wants him to come here for the summer because he has heart problems and has trouble with the heat and humidity in Lahore. How long ago did you invite your father? I wonder if the laws have changed much.... Do you start the process from here or do they need to submit an application from there first? Where and how does it all start?

thank you for your help!
PS. (I'm also in TO)

Re: how easy (or hard) is it?

My parents got visa around 4 months ago. I don’t think any thing has changed since then.

Your mamu needs to sumbit application in Pak. Things that you need to send from here:

  1. Sponsorship letter saying that you take all responsibilty of ur mamu
  2. Letter from your employer
  3. Copy of your passport, citizenship card or PRC
  4. Bank statement (if you are saying that you’ll bear all expenses related to ur mamu’s travel etc.)

Your mamu needs to submit these docs along with his own docs, using FedEx visa services in Pakistan. Ask some1 to visit FedEx office in Pak, they will give you all the details. PM me if u need any specific help.
