how early...??

For those of you ladies who didn’t have any help meaning just you and hubby or your help was gonna come later …did you prepare food and freeze it… how many days earlier did you do all of that… how many dishes did you freeze and how long did those dishes last you…

Re: how early...??

i had everyoen with me yet we still froze food.. why? cuz no one woudl want to cook once the baby arrived :D hehe

so we made enough for 2 weeks

waht we made

shami kebabs.. actually all sorts of kebabs... keema... diff salans...

teh only food taht was made fresh was for me.. as in yakhni or watery salan with chicken...

since ure asking for urself... i would say stay away from dry stuff like kebabs and rice adn anything that induces constipation.. have liquidy food.. like oatmeal with chicken, or sawaiya in milk... make lots of yakhni a few days before ure due date adn freeze it.. dont make it now cuz yakhni looses its taste in teh freezer.. but make lots of it.. like of 2 chickens... use a big pot... once its done.. shred the chicken and make packets with enough to last for one meal each... same with yakhni..

all u have to do then is take out a packet of chciken and yakhni... throw in pot.. add some bulgur or oatmeal or wahtever.. and voila.. u hvea very healthy meal.

u can make lots of keema... again make small packets... some days u can put chicken in the yakhni.. some days keema... and some days u can have a chicken spread on sandwich ... or u can have keema with roti...

also make salans wich chicken... or meat... make them watery... freeze in small packets... at the time of eating.. warm up .. make a roti.. cut into bit size pcs.. and just put them in teh shorba... let it soak up.. adn eat the mushy roti...

this all is great for post pregnancy eating... wont get constipation nor bloating.. and its all healthy :)

see if u have teh base of a meal ready like yakhni, chicken, keema... making a meal even after delivery isnt so hard.

u can even make roti for ureself and freeze.... dont cook it though..

make severeal rotis.. pile them on top of each other with a baking sheet inbetween each roti to rpevent sticking.. and freeze flat... when u need.. just tkae out and put on tava!

Re: how early...??

Come on ladies..... anything else you cooked and froze before you had ur babies....

What abt daals/lentils
Haleem???

Did any of you buy fresh veggies cut them up and freeze them so you could cook them quicker.......

Khawa....how many rotis did you freeze..... like what was the hisaab...how many per day???

Re: how early...??

daals and lentils give gas so usually new moms stay away for the sake of the baby. if u arent breastfeeding then go ahead. u can have all of that too.

as for rotis.. its really all bout how many u eat in a day :) maybe keep 2 a day rule and go from there.

i didnt make the rotis before hand cuz i had so many ppl around me to make them for me.. i wouldnt attempt makign a roti right after delivery especially after a c section cuz u have to put pressure on ure upper body and that may not be too nice soo soon after delivery :)

Re: how early...??

i just stocked up my freezer with kebabs, samosas, pasties and some salans, i even cooked some korma for biryani and froze that...as we expected some guests to come from far, it was easy just defrost the korma and just boil the rice, i did this a week before

Ladies, your input is needed. This is the list I have come up with (Can you tell that all I can think of is FOOD...either eating it now or later ..... Allah help me)

These following things I will be making dry inshAllah, will be adding water to make shorba later when heating:

Chicken salan
Koftay
Kaley chaney
Sabut Masoor daal
Moong daal
Red kidney beans
Meat curry
Moong and masoor mixed

Other things to freeze

Cut up kaddo
Bhindi
chicken in small packets to make yakhni with
rotee (2-3 per day)
chapli kebab
chicken breasts (marinated)
Keema (cooked)

Some other food I have been told to consume, pls tell me what you think

Milk with lil ghee, almonds, pistachio and haldi
panjeeri

Do you think this is a healthy diet...... we don't have any option of take away and no family or friends who we can ask to cook and bring over food. I am gonna be making these with less chilli and more of whole spices...... and lots of shorba.... and will hopefully be having lots of fruits too....

Re: how early...??

You should stay away from daals and beans if you're planning on breastfeeding.

Probably add shaami kababs to your list, I fried them and then froze them so all I had to do was de-frost/heat and eat.

Re: how early...??

i second what mianva is saying.. no beans nor lentils nor bhindi.. its all gas inducing... ok for u but not for baby if u breastfeed...

add diff kebabs.. make tuna and potato kebabs.... chickena dn potato... etc

otherwise.. its good enough.. ure list
