Re: how does the KINDLE work..
plus can someone recommened a kindle version of the quran in easy english translation please and any other books i should downlaod and read…
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
You can use the Kindle in Pakistan, but you may not be able to download books directly from amazon bookstore from within your device. I think it has to do with location. What you will have to do instead is, download books onto a PC and then transfer the purchases/books to your kindle using USB.
I’m not sure about the logistics of it exactly. But that’s what I gather from what I’ve read/heard so far. It would be best to call Amazon directly and ask them. Kindle network is expanding worldwide, and so is the international support. But, I’m not certain if all features of it will work in Pakistan.
Good luck.
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
If you are not stuck with the idea then there are other options out there and they are not tied to Amazon Store either .
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
Well there are 3 of them in the family now: The Kindle, Kindle Touch and Kindle Fire. I’ve only had experience with the Fire which does more than just let u read e-books. I’m sure it will work anywhere there’s an Internet connection. If you’re in the UK, I say download as many books as possible while you’re there so you have plenty of material for your trip. But if reading isn’t your primary purpose then go for another tablet. There are many reviews on this forum. And then you can download the Kindle app on the tablet and read away…

You should mention few options…![]()
Thanks
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
Usually just Googling e-book reader helps
but here you go I typed it up for you. Check out this link

Re: how does the KINDLE work..
Kindle (hardware) works wherever you are. As teggy pointed out Amazon may block IP but I’m not sure (will ask my sister who took a few back to PK). Again, as teggy pointed out, you can always find Kindle formatted books and purchase them from Amazon (2 different things) on to your PC and transfer them to your Kindle. When you hook up the device to your PC (via the supplied cable) it shows up as an external drive and its just a matter of copying the files over.
There are other e-book readers out there, e.g. Sony has one, Barnes & Noble have a few diff models (NOOK® by BARNES & NOBLE, World’s largest bookstore - Barnes*&*Noble). Then i found this other 3rd party reader called Kobo Touch (Buy.com - Kobo Touch eReader with Special Offers - Black) which is the same price as Kindle Touch and it reads all different formats.
E-book format primer: Kindle formated e-books have .mobi as the extension. Then there is the E-Pub format which is becoming increasingly popular. Apple products use this format, primarily, on their devices. Then there is the Adobe DRM format which the local libraries in the US and other institutions have started using to lend out books. This list is not all-inclusive. I just wrote out what I rememmber off-hand. Let me know if you have further questions.
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
Use send to kindle option
Amazon.com: Send to Kindle

also I’m getting a kindle. Yai!
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
Yeah amazon is kind of weird about the whole ip thing…but who pays for books…(although there are some free books in the amazon store that you won’t be able to buy). there’s not much in terms of eastern language support either if your getting something with internet…although if it’d pdf’s it’s fine.
For pdfs. You can download and drop into your reader. I have fire and it’s pretty painless. You can even download in the kindle and then movie it if you have an explorer
Re: how does the KINDLE work..
