I say it affects peoples' lifestyles, manners, humility, and thinking.

It has the greatest effect in terms of dogma. Its when people get too obsessed about their religion, and think that they are some demi-prophets that must go around forcing people into their way of thinking and doing things. This especially becomes problematic for Islam, because Islam involves not just taking on some rituals, but changing your entire way of living. And you can't force that into people. You can only educate, and leave people to make their own choices. But dogmatics don't think that way. The repercussions are in front of you. The rampant extremism and meddling in personal affairs has gotten out of hand.
