My friend is going to pk to see this rishta. He is from italy nd she lives in pk. the families have met few times. Now he is going to meet them all… how does it work if they decide to engage or something during his visit?

If families met few times, its mean they both found some common ground (family status, culture, financial status, religious compatibility, family background). I believe that both of them also seen picture of each other(physical attraction). Now, most important part is the communication between them. He should prepare a list of question, which he wants to know in his potential spouse. dont make this process to lengthy, just focus on your core preferences.
He may also do istekhara.

hmmm im a girl and i would find it a major awkward situation if the guy would prepare a list of questions....
ok so if the guy n girl like eachother or have a good feleing after d first meeting with family. how should he get in touch with her to see and speak to her before anything decided? there is not much time if something is going to be decided it will b during his visit...

a guy came from the other side of the country to see me. He was only in town for 5 days. Initially his family came over w/ him (after a prelim meeting where his mom/sisters came over to see me), then we went out to dinner (the families) the next night, and the third day he wanted to discuss some stuff so we decided to meet up for coffee. At that point our parents were okay with the match so they wanted us to see how we felt about each other.

It really depends, if i didnt him and didnt see this rishta progressing further i would come up with something and not give him my fb/email id. But if i liked him and saw some hope then i wouldnt mind keeping in touch with him and ofcourse the parents would know of this communication.

@ zareenkhan: fair enough. im only trying to say that my friends family is moderate religious. I dont see it happening that when they visit the girl, the girl n guy get a chance to talk to eachother in private during that one visit. Conversing in front of everyone obviously wont be abt meeting up?

It seems that's how my cousin (amongst several others) got married a few months back. The nikkah, I think, was done in a matter of week maybe....and I'm guessing she only met him once. I don't know the guy at all....but when I look at him....I get a strange vibe. It seems she's happy...and if so...I'm happy for her. More power to those who can do it.....cuz I can't....it creeps me out.

Then you ask your family to talk to the girl's family to arrange for you guys to be able to have some time together.
