how does it feel?

so im desi with dark brown desi-ish hair (mousy unless blowdryed and moussed, straight and silky but not REALLY straight OR silky:mad:, wavy when it feels like, turns golden in sunlight:blush: ) and i have never colored them…

just wondering if u go from black to blonde …do u start acting like an airhead? how does your image of yourself and other’s attitude towards you change or have changed…as a result of you changing your haircolor? or do u think nothing changes?

Re: how does it feel?

a brown-skin with blonde hair seems like someone low on esteem, who is not content with what God has given to him/her, who doesn't want to belong to the people/nation s/he was born into.... no pun intended :p ... but this is what I think of such people.... just my opinion.

PS: Can't say anything about how one feels when s/he changes his/her hair color as I haven't done it

Re: how does it feel?

Apparently, when I was colouring my hair red, I was more ‘intimidating’. Now that I have gone back towards my natural colour (it is still lighter than my natural colour), I am more ‘approachable’. :hehe:

This is what others have said about my hair colour changes.

I love changing my hair colour … it’s fun. Natural colour looks boring on me.

Re: how does it feel?

I've always hated dyed hair, most esp when going from darker shades to lighter. Almost the moment you do it, the dark roots start to show and it looks so cheap and ugly. Invest in a good conditioner instead. There's a new "thing" out there, its shampoos and conditioners that supposedly bring out the highlights of specific shades of hair - ie., brunette, chestnut, blonde, black etc. Pantene makes these (they're the less expensive version of some fancy expensive salon line that came up with the idea).

I really dont think blondies have more fun anyway. And if you're not born to be blond, it just dont look right!f

Re: how does it feel?

Are u calling me an airhead ??? :grumpy:

I went airhea–err blonde (highlights) a long time ago.. in two yrs i went from blonde highlights to red, to black to BLEACH !! i dyed my hair a few days ago, got highlights again

Re: how does it feel?

But i think it looks awful when desi-dark girls get blonde hair... it only looks nice if u hav teh skin color for it... i dont like my hair, i wanna dye it aagain :(

Re: how does it feel?

the chinese girl who works with me colored her hair to reddish brown....it looks very punk...i am nicer to her now :)
mamaof3 yes i know those shampoos....i think john frieda makes them too...have u tried it?

Re: how does it feel?

do u feel like a new person everytime u do it sara?

Re: how does it feel?

I personally don't like the look of darker skin with blonde hair. Looks to fake. But you could maybe do a lighter shade of brown. Or highlights.

I got highlights for the first time this summer -- lighter brown (my hair is a very dark brown). They did look nice, but once they started growing out I hated the root situation. Dyed it all back to my original color a month ago. I miss the depth that the highlights added to the hair, but as Mama pointed out, there are products out there that do that a bit more naturally.

Re: how does it feel?

ummm i dunno... yeah i got the john frieda brilliant brunette... JF and pantene r like 6-7 $$ each.. i think right before i go to pak, ill dye it bak to a light brown or something :(

Re: how does it feel?

i went to this shop on 34th called "lush". they sell soaps, creams, shampoos, bath stuff made with only natural ingredients (made by the employess a few days in advance) they add no chemicals to their stuff. I saw a bar of henna there used to dye hair. It was pure henna from Iran mixed with shea butter and coffee to add a brown color to your hair. i melted it at home and did a strand test and ..............Nothing. my hair didnt change :(.

Re: how does it feel?

go 4 streaks :k: u’ll get positive responses only. I would change from black to blong, but blond streaks are cute

Re: how does it feel?

I once turned my head into Brownish red, it looked cool and people around me loved it, EXCEPT my dad and his philosophy was that since i have thick, black, silky smooth dark hair, which not many girls have, I shouldnt change them…and He was right

Re: how does it feel?

Whenever I go through a major setback in life, I tend to get a weird hair cut or color them weird or totally different. But it’s been a few months since I had one. I really need a haircut now :bummer:

Sometimes, it’s just about feeling worthwhile.

Re: how does it feel?

mmm i think it depends.. if the color comes out reallyl nice n compliments ur face, obviously ure on cloud nine but then again, i had my hair ornage once and i wanted to scream and coincidently that was the last time i let a realative experiment with my hair. From ur pics sweetdreams, don't go blond blond.. try going a lighter shade of brown or a deep mahagony red would look really nice on u tooo.. n when u get it.. show us

Re: how does it feel?

I know a girl at our musjidth who has blonde hair which is obviously dyed. The black roots are really obvious. But her hair is fried. I think she's chemically damaged it and it looks terrible. I'm normally not one to judge but she could use an ambush make-over. She doesn't have dark skin but natural would be so much more flattering.

I think appearance sends a message to people. i can't help but think she's a bit of a trouble maker just because of her hair. It's not just lightened, it's like Pamela Anderson hair on a desi girl.

Re: how does it feel?

devil-im not sure if im ready to color my hair and take all the $$ and time that goes into maintaining it :( but i was wondering if changing haircolor DOES have as great an impact as some people say it does.....
i know atleast one girl who has been acting like an airhead ever since she highlighted her hair blonde... ;)

Re: how does it feel?

subtle changes in hair color are fine. but slapping dark skin with blonde hair!..i’d be worried about the injustice ur doing to fashion and beauty more so than acting like an airhead.

Re: how does it feel?

Yea i agree with most ppl here, blonde hair doesn't look good if it's not natural. I've never dyed my hair though. I do use mehndi monthly, and it gives me a really nice, healthy shine and u can see redish highlights in the light. Ppl always ask me wot hair dye i'm using, esp. when i go to chinese hairdressers (they love the henna colour!), and they're usually surprised when i tell them i only use mehndi.

Re: how does it feel?

ur just mean and intimidating either way. so hah
