There was a time when the idea of Internet taking over your social life was considered absurd. And it still is considered that somewhat; however, more and more people are seen interacting and socializing via the internet, and often lesser through personal contact as the good old days.
Countless studies have come out that prove that children and/or adult that spend a certain number of hours on the computer per day/week are more likely to be dissociated with physical activity. I guess it is safe to say that Computers are replacing Television in many ways.

I think it does affect your social life and there's nothing bad about that. You just have to make sure that it doesn't do more, ie that it doesn't take over your entire social life. For some people it does.
Personally I'm quite happy about the opportunities the Internet provides not only professionally, but also socially. I wouldn't even have known about the existence of some of the people I now consider to be very good friends, if it wasn't for the Internet (and Gupshup in particular).
welll yess it is effecting our social lives in both negative and postives ways..no doubt it has made communication very fast…ppl often end up socializing on internet more than in their real lives…means less interaction wid ppl around ones vicinity. …i think ppl use it as a escapeboat from real life…but balance shud b dere…:hinna:
Internet led to my divorce 2 years ago. This girl i met on net...she was very nice to chat with...I started spending hours chatting with her and then she told me that my wife is not good and she doesn't take good care of me. We exchanged phone numbers......twice i send her money paid her phone bills online ordered pizzas and cakes for her...but ultimately my wife checked my bank statments made a big issue about it......Parents got involved and now I am single again.
So i guess Internet effected my life too. But at the end of the day I don't regret it!
