When he starts to take more interest in your family. Ask you about your future plans, kids and all.
Also, when he wants you to meet his family.
I think overall, is that he is more interested in knowing you and your family.

scarface and T1000, wouldn’t that be a bit risky? what if there’s a tiny chance that she might not feel the same way for whatever reason she thinks up?

oh my god, i used to totally be like that, if i liked a guy in high school i would initiate and just go up to him and tell him how i felt, although that one guy accepted it really didn't amount to anything except friendship but still you're totally right, there was no "does he like me" type of ambiguity, just tell it to me straight, i'm totally like that. until now, most thought i was strange b/c i would take such a risk but ehh rejection didn't/doesn't scare me

, i couldn’t help being like that, it’s just my personality, i think it was more b/c of immaturity, i had to know right then, was a bit too impulsive. nowadays i can’t see myself doing that : D, i take the initiative in other ways now : )

Ha ha its when he starts randomly talking about marriage whilst he is sitting on your desk staring at you...lol...thats when he starts to consider you. For some guys this begins with first hating you which then turns into love. Why do guys do that???Hate=love???

The following are some "hints" which make me realize that my SO loves me and wants to build a life with me:
1) He introduced me to his parents
2) He went to visit his parents a few months ago (they live in a different state) and returned with a sari for me. He said it was a gift from his mom...BUT during the conversation admitted that he was helping her pick out a sari for me. LOL....he said something along the lines of how there was a black sari that was his #1 choice but his mom said it wouldn't be "proper" to buy me a black sari so he choose the green one.
3) We often have conversations about how we want our wedding to be (decor, location, outfits, food etc). We also have conversations about "our" children. I even have names picked out which he has already approved.
4) When he mentions major "life" decisions such as his job, moving to a different city, buying another house or car etc...he always mentions those things in the context of "us" or "we" or "you and I". He doesn't say "I" when talking about those things. He discusses those things with me in terms of what "we" want and how it would effect "us".
5) He doesn't make any major purchases (furniture, electronics etc) without talking to me about it and making sure I'm ok with it.
6) Not too long ago he booked a vacation for us...for next April! The plane tickets and hotel at this point is non-refundable. So for him to see a vacation package that he knows both of us will enjoy, and for him to book it 8 months in advance tells me that he's not planning to get rid of me anytime soon (or at least not in the next 8 months...lol).

believe me its too hard to find out when a man is in LOVE. I've seen lot of men who really dont know how to express, whereas women show their emotions very easily. That's why men take women for granted.

are you sure that these are the hints for a girl from boy??? .. .. except for point 2 and 6 .. I guess I give these hints all the time to all the "friends" i talk to .. :| .. OMG no wonder they call me flirt .. :( .. .. .. I just try to be nice .. and honest .. and little more friendly. u know ..

LOL.....well, I'm a woman and these "hints" are referring to my SO of 2 years(for the record, he's a man). :) I guess I approached the OP's question from a point of how do I know a man wants to marry me (and I'd like to think one of the reasons my SO wants to marry me is b/c he loves me...lol). Not sure about anyone else here but so far, this is working for me.
As for #4 and #5, I'm sure that's how married couples treat each other...right? I mean, when you marry, you can't do those types of things without talking to your spouse about it. My SO doesn't have to do those things right now, and I've never asked him for it. But the fact that he chooses to treat me like that makes me believe that he does consider me a very important part of his life and won't make major decisions without getting my opinion.....and I'm the same way with my decisions. After all....that's what being a couple is about.....being a team and working together.

Well, in my case I don't care if she likes me or not. If I love her, she's mine. That's it!
