Re: How do you write Arisha in Urdu…
I will have to find the book. It was given to me by a respected elder when we were looking for names for our daughter.
The book gave specific examples of names that our beloved prophet (pbuh) changed with the explicit reasoning that they were not humble in nature, not pure in nature and not sincere in nature.
Use common sense and trust your heart.

Re: How do you write Arisha in Urdu…
There are many traditions which actually contradict each other. So before believing every religious book that is put in front of him, I first like to see who wrote it, and how authentic the traditions are. As far as I know, prophet changed those names which included names of idols, for example, Abdul Uzza.
And friend, I think it is precisely according to common sense that one give good names to children. Now what names are humble and what not is a debatable issue, and depends on one’s opinion.
The name AREESHA means “high” or بلند and you said it is not humble?! I really don’t get it. Should we give such humble names as haqeer (حقیر) or zaleel (ذلیل) to children?! Common sense tell us that something is wrong here. And we don’t need to consult any book to come to this conclusion.
And the example of Hazrat Ali that I gave was also based on common sense. ‘AREESHA’ means high, ‘ALI’ means high. So how come ALI is ok and AREESHA is not?
This is just one example of extremism we show. I am sorry, it is not directed to a particular person, rather to society in whole, and all of us are a part of society. It is so easy to give fatwa on one’s understanding of Islam, and consider others who don’t agree to be anything up to be a ‘bad muslim’.
We were once sitting in a mosque. One of mosque-people said that prophet used to sit in a particular way. Then he showed how he used to sit. And then asked everyone to follow prophet’s sunnah.
I see a problem here. Sitting a particular way may be ‘sunnat’, but it is not ‘wajib’, and by ordering everyone to do it the guy was making it ‘wajib’.
Looks like I went far away from topic. So stopping right here.
Bye.
