I don't. I tell them to shut up when I've had enough or just walk away. I can't stand extra talkative people - men or women.

There's a guy that I work with who talks A LOT. Oh gosh....when he gets started, he just keeps going and going and going. And you find yourself slowly inching toward the door, hoping he'll get the hint....but no....that doesn't work with him. However, what DID work with him is to not make eye contact with him (and continue doing your work) and responding with one-word answers like "No" "Oh" "Okay" "Uhuh" "Mmhmm".....he finally got the message that some people are busy and won't encourage him. So, now he's more careful as he tends to reserve his stories for those that are more welcoming of them. I would say that overall it went well. Compared to the previous year, he's more considerate of the other coworkers' time and there's a decrease in things like....barging in/interrupting a busy period with inane comments etc.

I don't mind chatty women, you don't have to make conversation and you just make generic head movements or sounds like ahan, uh hmm, while actually doing something useful like watching tv.
