how do you stop an elementary school age

..kid from swearing?!

I was teaching a class the other day and a 7 yr old actually told me to !#@_*! off and gave me the finger!? lol … after I would not let him participate in an activity for not behaving.

I just wished him a Merry Christmas too and continued teaching the others.. the teacher’s aide handled him since she was more familiar with him.

I was just thinking… I dunno even how I would handle such a situation if i had my own kids and they swore at me like that!?

I used to work with kids and when they would swear the school had us contact their parents., than the parents would talk to the kid. Its something they learn from their parents or people around them.

As far as for your own kids, your suppose to use alternative exclamations. It's amazing the thinks kids pick up from their parents and siblings.

Well we taught our kids to say "chappan" (56) whenever they were angry or felt like saying bad words. Why "chappan"? Why NOT? It gets frustration out and is no bad word.

You have to be strict- yet make them understand that what they are saying is wrong.Iv noticed if you send them to the principal- it works, but after a while they're back at it.

Sit down with them ,and talk to them about it.So far its worked for me.Kids dont dare swear when I teach.

if that kid old you to &&off then i think u should've answered back by saying something worse..but say it in a different lang..in urdu..for example: batamiz bacha sharam nahi atee.. or oay sharam ker! trust me it works!

slap em real hard

yep that shud solve all ur problems with the kids.

seriousily i think we should be very strict and talk with them about it , kids at 7- 8 years can easily understand such things :-)
