Was the mango fully ripe ? It it is a ripe mango then if you twist and turn like it the juice will go flying all over , No ?

The way I took a scoop out of the meat using my spoon, that should answer your question. Yes it was a fully ripe mango.

I will try it tonight. I got a case of Haitian mangoes which are very juicy and aromatic.

Yup army wala log eat mangoes like this . Thats how we ate mongoes in home as it creates less of a mess.

sigh.. i tried this on my mexican mangoes. too hairy a pit to get the flesh to come off clean. i get the skin with soem flesh on it off, but most of the mango stays on the pit. :\

I tried your trick it worked great for the top part but it was difficult to take the seed out of the bottom part of mango.
The mango I used had lots of hair on the seed , may be that is why it did not work out the way it works for you .

You dont have take out the pit from the bottom part. you eat around it with a spoon.

I impressed my daughter with this new way of cutting mango , she was fascinated and thrilled to eat the top part of mango with spoon. Then I could not get her to eat the bottom part with spoon too , she wanted me to take out the seed of the bottom part also. Her mom ended up eating it. I cannot eat more than half a small slice of a mango being a diabetic.

The way I do it, I hold the bottom part of chew/suck the stuff from the exposed part of the pit. After that, with small spoon, dig into the lower part. I know that kids cannot do the lower half themselves, they need help
