Another thing that might work is telling them that you already have whatever it is they're trying to sell you.
People from my long distance provider call me sometimes, trying to sell me the long distance plan I already have. I've also gotten calls from my assets management company. They try to get me to sign up with them, but when I'll tell them I'm already with their company, the conversation ends soon after that.
have you guys ever had the desi telemarketers? one day someone rings, 'asalamalaykum' im like ummm must be some uncle ringing for my dad right? so im like 'waalaikumussalam' then he goes 'ji ap kon?' im just thinking its some uncle who doesnt know me, so i told him my name and he was like 'achaa..well **** ji, mein **** say call kar raha hoon, humarhi eik nahin offer......' i was just like whaaat?! sometimes they'll even say 'ji mein **** saab say baat karsakta hoon**?' so i'll give it to my dad thinking its his friend but noooo...bad times.
Ohhh yes , I have been having trouble with some freaking indian telemarketers calling from call centers in india ... one of the guys actually started flirting with me ! and when i told him i will make a formal complaint , he had the guts to tell me how his mom is no more and her last wish was to see his son become a NRI !
God help them cracks ! he was lucky I am from Pakistan , or else I would have gone to India to kick him !
My younger siblings are pretty rude when it comes to door to door sales and telemarketers...all the do is say "NO!" and shut the door or hang up...i on the other hand try the dad's not home, or just in a way let them speak and then refuse saying sorry i am not at an age to buy something etc and my parent's aren't home.
