How do you react..

to muslim or Islam-bashing after any unfortunate event of terrorism like Paris attack or Spain or UK or even 9/11?

We know that every other person jumps the gun in bashing and trashing all muslims as we can see social media today is full of it. Even though 99% of muslims are vocally condemning this as well as are strongly against terrorism but the acts of 1% bad guyz leaves a black spot on everyone.

Especially people living in west immediately come under radar and their approach is questioned all over. If not directly, i’m sure their reaction is observed.

How do you react to all this? And how should ideally we react to that?

Re: How do you react..

Dont run from the topic man.. tell us wuts yr thoughts (in easy english :bummer: )

Re: How do you react..

Some non muslim people genuinely need for muslims to tell them, that "we are again such groups."
Then you can tell them, how muslims are the biggest victims, of such groups.

Then have lots of patience.
One thing your would struggle with, some naive or ill-willed, would insist that IS is real muslim doing islam's job.
You can tell them "muslims are the biggest victims, of such groups."

Re: How do you react..

I dont react at all. Maine koi theka tou nahi liya hua to protect the image of Islam. I rather protect my image as a Muslim, and as a human bieng.

Re: How do you react..

i run N hide in my closet and then two days later i peek out the window to see if any spear pointing, sword wielding, gun toting mob is there…if the coast is clear, i come out and mingle with the rest.

isn’t that how every Muslim on the face of earth should react? well, i do!

Re: How do you react..

This is very important.

Re: How do you react..

So lets say a bunch of your coworkers are talking right by you and anyone blame all muslims for this or show anger towards them collectively, would you make your point and explain or just let it go?
Similarly if yr FB feed gets occupied with anti-Islam posts, would you comment on that or ignore?

Re: How do you react..

Name a couple of Christian/Hindu/Jewish terror syndicates, and ask them in what way are they affiliated with those organizations.

Re: How do you react..

I'm not aware of any Christian/Jewish.

Hindu ofcourse we all know but most westerners dont.

Re: How do you react..

See, if my coworkers are blaming all Muslims then they are reacting to a situation, and I dont want to react to reactions. I cant change their mind by saying that its not all Muslims. They should be intelligent enough to know that. And if they are not, then I dont bother to engage with them in communication.

If they come and ask me, then yes I will try to help them understand the situation.

Re: How do you react..

Umm Palestine!

Re: How do you react..

Lakh take ki baat. World is not blind. We can se these groups kill Muslims also. How France and french people reacted after Charlie Hebdo? How they reacted after Paris attacks? Was there any violence against Muslims, does french press blamed Islam or Muslims for attacks? I didn't see. For those people who seek opportunity to blame religion, you can shut their mouth with arguments and reasoning for the moment but it is difficult to stop them.

Re: How do you react..

In some countries those groups run Govts.
Some time one president wakes up and think.... hmmmm lets bomb some country in middle east.
Some time some PM wake up.. and after coffee.. he thinks.... lets push Palestinian farmer out of their land and house and use it as our own...

Re: How do you react..

The laws at work are quite strict and clear. Haven't come across Muslim bashing at work. Or while on travel in all these years. I can also proudly state my Indian colleagues (both at work and external) have not engaged in this.

Re: How do you react..

Meanwhile, the criticism on FB’s option of turning your DP to French flag colored scheme is now getting some attention in media.

Re: How do you react..

This is what I wrote on my Facebook page about France color filter uproar

Why is it about Paris?

I did not use the France flag filter to show my solidarity with the victims of Paris terrorist act, but that does not mean that my heart is not with them. And my heart being with them does not mean that my heart is not with the innocent lives being lost in Beirut, Syria, Iraq or elsewhere in the world. Quite honestly, I am little disturbed with all the postings where people are questioning the use of France colors. Let me ask those people some questions.

When you book your vacation, have enough money to go out on an international shopping spree, plan your honeymoon etc, do you think of Paris as your destination, or do you consider Beirut, Baghdad, Kabul or Yemen as your dream location? When you think of fashion trends, think of where to buy best fragrance from, or order some chocolates, did you ever go to Amazon’s Kabul website? If you want to send your kids for higher education, would you send them to University of France in Paris, or University of Iraq in Baghdad?

France, or for that matter West represents the part of this world where peace and justice (in some shape and form) still exist for the common people. We all are hoping that one day in Middle East, south east Asia and Africa, people could travel and live as peacefully as they live in western world. We hope for people to have the same liberties, and enjoy the same luxuries as available for the people of West. The attack of Paris is the attack on the peace and freedom that we all seek. It’s not about a country or skin color, it’s about the violation of basic human rights, in a city where it was not expected.

I am from Karachi. When violence erupts in Liyari or Orangi town, people feel sad but move on. But when a similar act of violence happens in Clifton or Defence, the sadness and fear elevate further. That does not mean that lives in Orangi are less important. That fear and uneasiness come from the penetration of terrorism into another, otherwise peaceful location. It’s like when you see fire spreading, and when it catches another home, your heart sinks even deeper.

Let’s not play politics on human lives. Let’s not forget that world DID recognize the tragedy of Peshawar and Nigeria. It’s just that we did not pay attention to that recognition, because it did not happen through Facebook. People mourn for the loss of innocent lives, everywhere. That expression of mourning sometimes takes different shape and form.

Facebook never celebrated a heterosexual reunion, but you did see the rainbow color filter. That does not mean that people think that union of a man and woman is not a joyful occasion. Lets not confuse our minds people. Lets be together, as humans.
