Yeah, cleaning usually starts a few days before.. ever since I was a lil kid, I remember my mom wanting the house absolutely spotless for Eid day lol. Food is usually made on that morning, mom always gets up wayyyy before everyone else (bless her :D) and starts the cooking. Daddy & myself drag ourselves into the kitchen after a little while to help her out 
Our clothes are usually ironed and ready the night before, but if not for some reason, then in the morning.. So yeah, usually we try starting little preps (like cleaning the garden, putting up deco etc) a couple of days before, just to get that Eid-ish feeling around the house
