Start cleaning the house about a week in advance... usually rearrange furniture and settings to get everyone in the holiday spirit all excited and stuff... we put up banners and lights and balloons.... fun stuff :)

Foods we dont prepare too far in advance... fresher is better... but desserts are almost always made the night before.

Yeah we start cleaning in advance, clothes out and pressed the night before (if we are gonna be home on eid). Then depends on what everyone wants to eat, usually a lot of the food is prepped night before & made EARLY morning by my mother & me so its fresh.
Usually dehi ballay, some mihtai...like ras gullai...may make ras malai...etc...some cake.
Food is always pilao/biriyani with some curyy and kebabs and stuff. Also depends if the annual Eid party is at home or at a friend's place.....it's usually 1 dish party...so easy on everyone.

For Eid.....my makes the sawaiyan (vermicelli pudding) in advance. My dad will make either one of of the following dishes or a combo: biryani, baked chicken with mushrooms or grilled chicken, nihari.

Since our relatives (buzurgs) visit us right after the Eid prayer, we have to get everything ready prior. It is usually shami kebabs (chicken) dahi barhay, croocketts, chicken n veg rolls, or samosas, fruit chat/ channa chat, some dessert should also be present, and it all followed by tea. Our Eid literally starts after they leave.

We clean the house in advance because everyone always comes to my mom's for Eid after prayer. Our clothes are always pressed and ready to go for Eid morning.

My mom makes sevaiyyan early morning also and usually we have a rice dish, biryani or yakhni pulao and nihari.

My dad does niyaz/fatihah in the morning, we all have breakfast and then go for Eid namaz.

I clean the house before eid and usually some appetizers like swaiiyaan, patties, rolls etc.If someone comes to visit us on eid.Mosty our eid is pre-scheduled so I just make swayien and have an appetizers in fridge.If party is at my house then its a different story.

Yeah, cleaning usually starts a few days before.. ever since I was a lil kid, I remember my mom wanting the house absolutely spotless for Eid day lol. Food is usually made on that morning, mom always gets up wayyyy before everyone else (bless her :D) and starts the cooking. Daddy & myself drag ourselves into the kitchen after a little while to help her out :@: Our clothes are usually ironed and ready the night before, but if not for some reason, then in the morning.. So yeah, usually we try starting little preps (like cleaning the garden, putting up deco etc) a couple of days before, just to get that Eid-ish feeling around the house :phati:
