Seriously, I’m such a slob. I can’t keep my house clean. (Might help if my butt wasn’t planted in front of the computer). But somehow when we first moved into the house I agreed to do inside work if my husband did all the outside work. I didn’t have to clean when I lived at home with my parents. I didn’t even know how to do laundry! Now, I’m sitting in a disaster zone. I’m just sick of looking at it. So do you guys keep schedules for yourself? Do certain items on certain days? What works for you to keep your house clean?
I get a Filipino woman to come to my house once a month to spend 6-7 hours cleaning it up for me.
I expected better from u .. u do as arabs do ![]()
They make good cleaners . ![]()
Cheap too! A gori maid costs over twice as much per hour! ![]()

I do intensive safai once a week. But some things have to be done everyday, otherwise the pile of mess makes it hard to clean off after.
This is my routine:
Everyday: I clean the dishes, the kitchen counter, kitchen floor and kitchen equipments, that gets dirty and place them in their right place.
I sort out things that need to thrown away, like newspapers and packages and throw them in the trash bag.
I put the dirty cloths in the laundry box.
I clear out things and put things in their place if they are lying around.
Water the plants
Making of the bed.
Every other day:
I clean the refrigature, the bath and toilet.
Once a week::
Now this is mostly saturday or sunday, it takes around 3-4 hours to do these tasks.
Do the weekly laundry, meanwhile clean the balcony, as I have laminate floor, I sweep the floor and mop it, clean the carpet, Everything has to shine, especially the floor.
I do the dusting, cleaning up the furniture with a wet cloth.
Once a month::
Cleaning up of the windows, sorting out the wardrobe and making new arangements and settings of things.
I really need a maid :(
The main thing is to do things as soon as possible, dont wait and say I'll do it tomorrow or some other time, as then we get even more lazy as the dirt piles up. I have to have a clean kitchen before I can go to sleep. Sometimes its hard, as I am working full time, but if I dont do it at the end of the day, the kitchen looks so messy the next morning, (khusk atta lying around, dirty dishes ect.. that its unbearable to do something in there till is clean. Nothing beats a clean environment.
^ SadiaB you do somuch i think.
I can’t do this much . ![]()

LOL. This can be interpretted in different ways. Please tell me it’s not what I am thinking.
I know .. but my hubby helps me a lot, thats something I forgat to mention, he throws away the trash, makes the bed, irons his own cloths, helps with the laundry and of course with cooking, sometimes we argue who wants to make the salan and who is the better cook
And he loves making buffet dishes .. mashallah.
Every husband should help in the household, if both are working people.
Did i write anything wrong…![]()
I don’t know what are you thinking :D…but i mean to say … just to clean the bathroom when he fails to clean it properly. ![]()

YEP !!!!
Sheen I was worse than you. Keeping it clean seemed like a huge tormenting job, I could never do right. But then my cousin, with OCD I think, taught me how it keep it all clean. Im glad I don't have to worry about the whole house, thats what moms are there for lol. But Im responsible for my own room.
The key is, not to get it messy in the first place. And how do you do that? Very simple, always and I mean ALWAYS, put things back, from where you got them. My dressing table, used to be such a disaster, took my 15 mins everyday, each morning to find my mascara. But now, I put back everything in its place right after I use it. Dust up, once a day, it only takes 5 mins, wait prolly not more than 3. Before my floor used to be covered up with paper and more paper. I even forgot the color of my carpet. But now I gather up all my books and papers, after Im done studying, put them back where I got em from, organize them back, hardly takes 2 mins. Correct my bed, right after I wake up, doesn't take a min.
It did take some effort into pushing myself to clean up eachtime. It takes a lil while to get used of it. But once you do, its amazing how everything keeps clean ITSELF.
