How do you people cope

When you are at the end of your tether? About to explode with way too many things on your plate?

Dropping anything is not an option, infact I may have to start a part time job as well to cover expenses etc. That would eat away at all of the NO time that I have.

Here is my schedule:

6 am wake up go for a run
7am shower
7.30 dress
8.05 leave house for school
8.50 Get to school - prolly late
9.00: lessons - 3.30
lunch time : revision/whatever
3.30 - 5.30 after school sessions ( tuesday thursday and friday)
6.30 - 9 ( monday and wednesday) night classes
9.30: home
9.40 - I drop asleep = homework/revision

I feel like dying/killing poeple/smashing glass/strangling somthing - preferably a cat.

:help:

Dropping the night classes is NOT an option. I have to do it. Or Id die.

Re: How do you people cope

its all part of growing up... when u get to my age... u'll miss these days

Re: How do you people cope

i programmed my mind back in college to sleep WHEN i could... between breaks in lectures, between transporting to/from school...

i had 7 subjects (30hrs of classroom) and 40 hrs of work.. with careful planning, u learn to deal with it ..

remember to ask yourself WHAT is worth more and prioritize properly.. if u can do that, u cango through EVERYTHING...

Re: How do you people cope

 Back already?

hiccup - just make sure not to sacrifice sleep – you’ll really hurt yourself if you do. skip an occasional class if you have to, or talk to a professor and turn something in late. but sleep is really important.

when i was in grad school, i was doing two masters at the same time and student teaching. i became so much less social and worked much harder than i normally do. i just wanted to go home to see my family and didn’t spend as much as i probably should have with grad school friends. i was absolutely exhausted most of the time. i don’t know how i got through it, but i did, and soon you will too.

Re: How do you people cope

u'll miss this time of ure life later on! I also use to have a very hectic schedule during my school and college time, used to be at the end of my nerves and energy often... used to complain, but heyy now i really miss that time!!

Be patient and do something pleasurable once in a while also, go out with friends, go swimming, golfing, bake, read a book or just relax! :):):)

Re: How do you people cope

valium overdose will fix u right up. just be sure u take the entire bottle. a 9mm in the brain works too but a little messy.

Re: How do you people cope

A random thought. That's how I used to cope ... :p

Re: How do you people cope

I dont think there is a right way to cope with it. I also went to school full time and worked full time (more than 50 hours a week). At taht time I would drop dead with exhaustion but if you stay organized, you learn to deal with it. And like the rest of it, you will also look back at this time be proud of yourself since you wont be able to figure out how you were able to do it. :)

On a side note, get yourself some rest when you can. SInce I never got enough sleep, I would sleep for 13, 14 hours straight on days that i could. It worked. Well, kinda.

Re: How do you people cope

Well, I dunno how flexible your current schedule is but here are a few suggestions. Now you didn’t spcify the days so for my post, I’ll assume that the above schedule is for Monday-Friday. I’m not sure what you’r schedule is for Saturday and Sunday but if nothing else, I’m assuming that you don’t have classes on weekends so your’re free during the days on weekends.

  1. I know you said you can’t drop the night class and that’s fine. The night class from 6:30-9:00 p.m., you only have them Monday and Wednesday. So I’m assuming that Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday you’re free in the evenings to study or get a new job or whatever.

  2. When you wake up and go running at 6:00 a.m., you do that 7 days a week?? If so, you do think you absolutely HAVE to run 7 days a week?? What IF you didn’t go running 2 days a week, Monday and Wednesday when you have night classes? That way, in those 2 days, you have an extra hour in the morning to either sleep, or have an extra hour to yourself to get ready so you’re not late to school at least those 2 days. I personally think that at your age(early 20’s I’m assuming), running 5 days a week is plenty to keep you in shape. I know it’s not much, but it’s a little something to help you at least 2 days a week.

  3. I don’t know where you live, but assuming you don’t have any classes on weekends, your potential new part time job can be on weekends can’t it?

Well, other than the above suggestions, all I can say is hang in there! When I went to college(I graduated May 2004), I always took 15 hrs. credit(5 classes) every semester, plus had a near full time job(about 30 hrs/week). And since I was studying Business, my last 2 years, I ALWAYS had some kind of group project that required regular weekly meetings/discussions etc. I’m shocked that you’re still getting 8 hrs. of sleep each night. I personally never got that in college and none of my friends did either! I usually slept 5-6 hours.

If it’s possible at all, next semester try to lighten your load of classes, maybe take 1 or 2 fewer classes.

Good luck!
