I follow the directions on the custard box yet I always get a thick and lumpy custard. Why can’t I get smooth flowing yummy custard like everyone else???

u might be adding too much custard powder ....??...
to avoid lumps in custard,when u add the cold milk+custard powder to the boiling milk,keep on constantly stirring,otherwise it will get lumpy...
whilst cooking try to keep it thin because it will thicken itself when it cools down....:)

Ya best just buying Ambrosia's ready made custard; pour out of can, heat for 2 mins and serve. ...jobs a good'un.

Also don't add the custard mixture at once but slowly and keep stirring. I remember my mom used to stir it with whisk.

^ yeah lusi...i use a whisk too....really prevents lumping....and keeps the custard smooth...:)

that is something couch potatoes would do, because they r too fat to get up!!!!!!

What do you serve the custard with? Any ideas aside from custard and pound cake?

sumtimes i buy custard powder but it doesnt match my cheffing standards so i make my own with corn flour

so the trick is

when u pour the powder and milk solution in the boiling milk just turn the heat a lil bit low before adding the mixture and keep stirring

it wont get clumpy

and yeah turn the flame off when its lil bit flowy then u actually want it

it gets thcker when it cools down

when we were kids our mom used to make it for us and used to add fresh apples and bananas.....my sister still loves it that way...:)

for a fancy touch ,i layer it with cake and custard and pineapple slices and pineapple jello....i like it that way too....

btw...what brand of custard powder do u people use mostly...??...
