Well, I’ve been talking to my friends about career options etc. Some of them are at Uni and are studying what they’ve always wanted to. However, two of them are in their final year and still aren’t sure about their choice
I want to know how many of you are fiercely career-minded. Also, when/how did you make up your mind about your career? Did you go through many stages? Any/all responses will be appreciated—I am just keen to find how people make such important decisions.
So fish, if you’re starting college and are confused about the direction of your life, I would wouldn’t worry too much about it. Don’t declare a major unless you are absolutely certain but take a few career tests that will pin point what your interests are. After you figure out what you want to do, get exposure to that field, do internships, volunteer, keep up with the industry news, talk to people in that field. Take an active role, don’t just let life take you somewhere and listen to your heart not what everyone else tells you to do.
Thanks for another one! I’ve actually graduated recently and have a fairly good idea aout what I’d like to do. The reason why I brought up this issue was some of my friends and my own brother seem to be struggling with their choice.
Your following opinion makes a lot of sense to me.
To tell you da truth, I was studying to become a doctor till Year 12…then something occurred…and now I want to get into IT consulting. Life is so unpredictable! You are doing management consulting!? Good on ya
