you know i was just pondering over this last night. Why do muslims greet one another now a days with “whatsup” “hi” “hey” etc etc. I mean, what happened to that ‘dua’. “Assalamalikum”. I would rather hear someone give me a dua where they ask Allah to protect me, than to get a “hiya partna”.
Also i think the same applies to thanks. Wth, I did something for you, and All you can say is thanks? What will thanks get me! Now if you say ‘JazakAllah’, Then thats a million times better because you’re making Dua to Allah to reward me MAN!! Think of his rewards!!! They’re MUCH better than your squeaky voiced ‘thanks’.
I think the same way and even though people greet me with 'wats up" yo and other stuff i still say Salamz to them and if they still dont get the idea, i simply say Wa'alaikum salam to theri Wats up! :)
Depends who i'm talking to...to elders yes, i always say "Asalam Alaikum"...to my fiance n friends just say "hi"...with my youngest bro i say "Asalam Alaikum" also, that way he will learn to say it...the other one (close to me in age), we just use "bye", it's weird we never say "hi" though...and to others (work etc.) of course i'm gona say "hello" bcos they don't even know arabic.
