I’m in the last face of my study, I’ve been studying all day for about a year now. I finished a lot of material rather quickly. Maybe that’s the reason I don’t feel like doing anything right now? All I want to do is watch tv, movies or read. Anything but studying. I have to do some final lessons and I have to start preparing for exams in a few months. But I just can’tget my head to do it. I want to do everythign except studying. What is wrong with me. Burnt out so soon? Does anyone have any tips on how to get my motivation back? Maybe I should pull my own ears and force myself behind my study books. Problem is, after only a few minutes I get up and start doing other stuff.
I could let myself be hypnotised, heehee! ![]()
Re: How do you get your motivation back if you seem to be burned out...
Arrange to meet with a friend ( i prefer same sex) who is much smarter than you and studying for the same exam. Make sure you are insanely jealous of this person. Talk to him/her about his/her progress, and you will be back to your old motivated self again. Works like a charm everytime.
Trust me, i am a pro.

Dope's idea is a good one. I used to use it - but since there was always one annoying Indian student in the class who thought he/she was all that, I'd consider them competition and try to outdo them on each exam.
I preferred to compete with the males, since I loved the look on their face when they found out that I set the curve.
But I've experienced the burn out recently. In your case, its lasting one year, and this is your final year. Either find someone to compete with or motivate yourself by planning your next vacation and sternly telling yourself that if you don't go well, you will cancel your plans?
Also another technique that I use - when I'm getting distracted easily - is that I challenge myself - put myself on a timer and say - I need to get such and such stuff done in precisely an hour - and then treat myself when I beat my time limit.
Cheesy, but it works.
If its long term fatigue from studying, then one great way is to take some time off - like don't go to school for a year or two - just get a job of some sort and make some money in the mean time.
Also:
massage therapy
silly I know - but namaz. I always feel more motivated to get work done after reading namaz for some reason.
exercise - gets the blood flowing to the brain - helps you concentrate.

Wow, it worked, I actually studied for two and a half hours. Which is a lot considering I couldn't get myself to really study for about two weeks! Sheesh, and that coming from a person who used to spend 6-8 hours a day behind books...
I couldn't do what Dope suggested, though it was a good idea, since this is a home study, I have no class fellows, but PCG, your suggestion of challenging myself actually worked, I gave my self an hour and I ended up learning longer and so finishing more. :)
It was boring calculation, I didn't understand everything, boy I puzzled a lot, got the right answers and then of some of the calculations I didn't understand why that answer was right! I'm so bad with numbers and calculations... Looks like tonight I'm going to dream about dividing and multyplying numbers jumping around, changing in % and g/v% and back to ml and gr and singing 'Sadya, you will never get us' ... lol ...
Oh well, it's a start. And insha Allah this weekend I will finish that last section and send my last homework. Thanks again for the good advice! :)

Re: How do you get your motivation back if you seem to be burned out…
**All good advice, but how can you consider “namaz” silly? **
Re: How do you get your motivation back if you seem to be burned out...
Because the purpose of namaz is not to get your "study" on, but to have a connection with God.
