Basically either find a healthier substitute for the craving . Which works but can get you to develop another addiction at times. E.g i tried to quit Coke/Pepsi and switched to tea …eventually got hooked on both tea and Coke
The second which I found worked better for me was to make a conscious effort to resist the craving on the first 3 occasions. Thats all it takes to quit an addiction ,thereafter it becomes second nature.
Its about re-programming your brain to say NO.
I tried it again with my coke addiction and was cured and can now consciously decide when I will and when I won’t have it rather than it ruling me !***
Sugar and caffeine are addictive.
The more you take them, the more you crave them. Its like a vicious cycle.
I think the first 2 weeks might be the hardest, but like sheyn said, once your past that,it will become something of a second nature, and your cravings will reduce drastically.
i don't think...if i want it, i just eat it...why worry when u gonna eat it anyway whatsoever ur brain tells you not to...so, i follow my instinct :) life is short, make the best of it :)
I have the same problemmmm!!!!
I can hardly stop myself from eating sweet things, the most ive been without are three days. I need to eat barfi, or chocolate or biscuits or all that sweet junk everyday with tea... tea time is my most favourite time of the day. So helpless we are :P
Pickles aren't my thing...but i guess i could give them a try...so sour....
sheyn - Your right its about reprogramming your brain...I actually have been "pop" free for like 2 years now!! lol I just told myself NO!!! and I heard that if you keep something up for 30 days it becomes a habit! so that really helped me...but I just can't seem to get that amount of will power for sweets :S
Hashmat - Your a guy you can say that....lol It's like my brother he can eat whatever he wants whenever he wants and he doesn't gain a lb!! Whereas the ladies really do need to watch what they eat...It's just not fair :P
Shum- Its nice to know i'm not alone lol...I love having tea with cookies as well...soooo yummay!!! :P But i heard on this show that you should stop eating at a certain period in the the evening so you can give our body a chace to metabolize everything before you go to bed...I'm trying to stop eating at 8pm everyday...that means no late night snacks..no matter how stressed you are...
Roasted almonds eh....thats pretty easy to try. But then the problem for me is that i'll break out lol!!! Will the problems ever end :P

same with me, i just cant have tea without biscuits and stuff ...
But at the moment i am really into this loosing some weight craze .. and even if i see chocolate which i normally cant live without i always think about my dreamfifure i want to achieve or how i used to before marriage ... I stop ..
This works for me, i have to admit not always ! But most of the time.
Special K has those less calorie nibbling packs which are awsum for nibbling and available in different flavours as well, i tend to have them whenever i feel like having something sweet ...
for me, i dont' like substitute food. if i'm craving chocolate, eating some low calorie low fat thing wont do anything. i need a real chocolate bar. so i would just go indulge. also sometimes i get cravings right before my cycle. i indulge them. however, don't be like a jaanwar and eat like a maniac...have the food with a glass of water, sit down, eat slow, savor it.
Eat in moderation. There goes a saying 'a little of what you fancy does you no harm' so try working with this... eat healthily but allow yourself a treat every now and then. This should settle the cravings because you're still getting a little of what your heart desires, but you're still eating well.
A way to stop yourself eating so much is to have a big glass of water when you feel you want to eat something. It may be that you're just thirsty, not hungry!
