What does intelligence mean to you? Give some examples. ![]()
Some people think verbal diarrhea is intelligence and using big redundant words. we socialized with this skinny twig of a guy, his wife was his first cousin and he had really good command of the language and he would use very flowery language and his speech was very verbose, many seem to be impressed by him but I held a different view as the guy had never been to a dentist and would not floss.
Anybody who challenges my opinion (In a respectful manner offcourse) & I get to learn new things from them whether through their words or their way of doing things without hurting anyone else’s dignity or physically, mental, financial well being as per me is an intelligent person.
Its a good question. Lets get this thread in cafe section to get more view which, sadly, we aint getting here many
I define intelligence as someone who doesn’t read the diatribe posted by our resident fictitious deluded attention seeking fool @Bobby1 posts.
I feel that it’s a complex question. When I think of intelligence, the following traits come to mind:
the ability to use/apply logic and reason
the ability to view a matter from multiple angles or perspectives; I feel this lends greater depth to conversations
to be able to consider consequences, both short and long-term
to think outside of the box
I don’t think that lack of awareness signifies lack of intelligence because that can be remedied by exposure. None of us came into this world knowing everthing. We acquired all that information (data, facts, statistics, laws, theories) from exposure.
There are multiple intelligences and you can even read up on them. We are all stronger in some and weaker in others. So, I don’t think anyone has mukammal or complete intelligence. I do feel that intelligence can be developed.
I once came across a saying among the French that “Only the very beautiful can be very ugly.” From that quote, I have also come to find that “Only the very intelligent can be very stupid.” I have seen very, very highly educated people who have immense pride in their advanced degrees, their renowned alma maters, and their professions of pomp make the silliest mistakes when it comes to common sense matters. Conversely, I’ve seen people who are not that educated display greater sense and foresight.

Toothsy btoothsy, after reading several posts from you about dental hygiene, I am assuming you have set of perfect, crystal clear, clean, pearly teeth. Now I wanna see or I won’t believe you didn’t get a fake jaw during your last trip to the dentist & have any authority in making posts after posts about dental hygiene. So come on… Here’s mine for your encouragement… (or did you need that kinda encouragement.. me wonders…) Anyhow, let’s see yours.
Edit: I have removed image of my jaw as Btoothsy seems to have disappeared in the mountains since after my dare to him. Not sure if it was fear of exposing his teeth or something else. Will wait & see.
Toothsy btoothsy…lalloo balalloo
la dee dah dee la la la…
^^ So after so many lectures on dental hygiene of other people, he not interested to display his own jaw. Why oh Why?
In essence, I define it as fast learning and then application in the right moment and situation. Knowledge is redundant if you can’t retract it when necessary.
In other words, neuroplasticity.
