and i’m NOT talking about “long term anger” or holding grudges, but say someone just annoyed you or said/did something that really annoyed you, and you feel really about it, what do you do to allow yourself to let the anger pass quickly ?
i hate being angry, i hate the feeling even if it’s justified, i think it can be really self destructive but i can’t help getting sometimes
for example : my brother just accused me of something that i didn’t do and which could have landed my nephew to the hospital, my sister in law knows it’s her fault but she doesn’t intervene and watches me being told off. so a) i have to put up with my SIL’s stupidity daily and b) i get blamed .
Just think about the consequences if you do lose your temper. It worked for me. I use to have slight anger management issues in my early teens . Trust me, i did things i truly regret. Getting angry may only be 5 or 10 minute thing. But the consequences can be long term. Ive got people that still wont talk to me :(. Argue your case and beat them that way.
i would do this if i ever encounter that **shaitan-controlled state of mind**** called ANGER because**** anger is the man's worst enemy****...it consumes you from inside out:

I just lock myself in my room and listen to music blasting in ear or call up a friend and bash the sh*t out of the person. Works like a charm. whistles
I let it all out - whoever is the closest has had it.... then I have sleepless nights, end up regretting it, and then I try to make ammends. But iA I'm going to try and change this because my attitude is way too destructive.

yeah, i think that's the best thing to do and i try to work on that, because like i said, i hate being angry so i don't want to do anything to encourage it (like talking about it or shouting etc)
i'll try the scream into a pillow remedy, that should be fun
oh and i easily get irritated by rude people, like those who push you in the metro like it's normal, or people who blow smoke right in your face, yeah i think i'll just carry a pillow in my handbag and scream into it occasionally
What Midnight said, have foresight and think about what will happen if you hurt somebody because you couldn't control your anger, that will help you. leave the room, take time out and breathe, think through it or actually if you have more time, write about what you're feeling and about the whole situation, until you're calm and you feel better and only when you know it's under control go back into the high pressure situation again.
that's what i do always, anger is a natural human emotion, we aren't horrible for experiencing anger but when we learn to control it, that's truly a victory.
My eyes bulge, then I let a roar of rage and chuck my keyboard straight at my monitor, when it appears that the monitor screen has a sufficient crack running through it then I pick it up and throw it against the wall. Then I pace up and down and kick the chair.
Then I wait for these threads so I can post my experience.
