Apart from that, you can never be sure. I believe you are talking about having romantic interest in someone? You develop interest in a person based primarily on their physical attributes - thats the basic, then how well you get along with them, the more time you spend with them the more you feel interested, the chemistry develops and your interest keeps getting stronger. You can develop such interest towards anyone you find attractive and don't find their personality repelling. Then you find someone else you are more attracted to and your interest shifts. The cycle goes on until you get married. Then for the rest of your life you curse the creature you see sleeping next to you every single night thinking how in the hell did I end up with this thing.
