facebook does have adverts on. Also some content which you have to buy or pay for to use it.. Like gifts and stuff.

and Orkut has the millions of Google behind it so :stuck_out_tongue: and is still in beta phase :halo:

  • also Facebook is expanding its business model to generate revenue through sponsored product groups... in the future... companies will pay Facebook to host their user enthusiast groups and the like to create a buzz around their products.

Although the primary basis of Facebook is C2C, there's going to be a lot of B2C revenue streams through different types of marketing portfolios.

About how you mentioned of google backing up orkut, orkut did not join google till later in its success:D. Not many adverts in that community so to speak and the owner was making millions? Also google bought orkut, meaning orkut was going upwards in earnings already… any explainations??:confused:
