We were watching news together and it showed how a bomb in Iraq had killed 48 people. My 10 year old son commented “Muslims are so stupid Mum, why do they kill each other?”.
We live in a Western country and I try to teach my son all the good things about Muslims and just the other day I was teaching him that our religion literaly means “Peace”. His question surprised me and I had to distract him so he could just forget this question which I did not know how to answer.

**tell him that islam teaches peace and love but its the misguided muslims who are doing things that are contrary/contradicting and against the spirit of Islam.
u also have to teach him the TRUE deen. i fear more that my child may fall into the wrong sect. if u impart true deen [according to Qur'aan and Sunna] then iA today's kids will not go astray and will be tomorrow's good muslims.

I think you need to explain that even if someone calls themself Muslim, that does not gurantee that they will always behave in an Islamic way. Muslims are people and people are not perfect. Maybe try and explain that are not killing each other because they are muslims, they are killing each other because they do not agree with each other point of view. Try to seperate the act from their religious beliefs.

kids are innocent and tend to say things exactly that as they see them............be a realist and tell him that there r good and bad ppl in every religion, race, community, neighbourhood, even household............original message of Islam was to fight under the banner of Oneness of God against all forms of oppression .........Islam is about getting ur head cut for justice and not chopping other ppls heads in the name of self serving justice of some sort like so called Muslims do today.........instead of telling him good things abt Muslims why don't you teach him to recognize and to be with good values such as truth, honesty, humbleness.........these were all the traits of the founders of the message of Islam...........teach your son look for these good human values rather than looking towards certain people or a certain group regardless of wht title they choose to give to themselves.........
