The horoscopes one sees in Urdu newspapers seem to be just like the ones in English papers. But isn’t the traditional najumi system different than the western type? Can someone explain the differences to me?

I am a student in Indian astrology(I mean I developed a quest for it some 10-15 years ago),and I continue to learn about it even after somany years.First of all Indian astrology is Moon based and the Western astrology is Sun based.
I beieve the Indian Astrology or the Vedic Astrology is the only authentic one.(Pls execuseme for this statement).We rely on `Nirayana mode’ calculus system.

The Dasa System (the planetary cycles) is a unique feature of the Vedic system which indicates a period during which a planet´s influence becomes fully operative. This enables one to give precise predictions during a particular period.
In Vedic Astrology, more emphasis is placed on the Moon than on the Sun. The Moon represents the mind which is seen as the agency of perception and, consequently, is a major determining factor in how one interacts with the world.
The popular expression,“What is your sign?” reveals the importance of the Sun sign in Western astrology, as well as a certain mindset associated with astrology. If that question were posed by a Vedic practioner, he/she would be more likely referring to the individual´s Moon sign. Another system of delineation in Vedic Astrology are aspects known as “yogas”. This is a unique system for understanding the power of the associations between the planets in their placement from one another. When the planets form yogas, they create specific results which are powerful.

^Its not abt the Birth Time alone.The laws of the Moon motions are quite complicated.

see that's why it's easier with the sun sign western way. who remembers all that, my mom was probably just happy to get over all the labor pains. who has time to look at the moon motions at that time?

As far as finding one's moonsign, according to Vedic system, is there a website with a calculator/gadget that can kick it out when you put in your birth details?

They are the same exact thing: Bogus.
There is no science behind what they say. Just amusing fiction, that's all.
