For now I am storing them in an organized way (0-3 months, 3-6 months) etc in big diaper boxes in his closet..he is only 5 montages and I am running out of space. I plan to keep hem for the next baby but I may donate them later too. Just not ready to give them away yet!
I wish my friends have babies soon so I can pass on stuff to them thus justifying all the money spent on such items!
I opened a some what similar thread a while ago…
I personally feel that there are a little bit more clothes in the first year. They outgrow them on a monthly basis whereas after that they do that on a seasonal basis.I have a 2 year old and have quite some stuff which is brand new.I have that stored in plastic totes in the basement storage.Other stuff is stored acc to the age like 0-3 months,3-6 months and so on.Lately her stuff is stored after being labeled as ‘summer stuff’ or ‘winter stuff’.
I have kept whatever I loved or was new or relatively new in hopes of using it for my second child (if it is a boy,I will be stuck with tons of dresses and pink stuff..!!..).
But I have also started to give them away mostly because of lack of space.I gave a few bags of used clothes to Goodwill earlier this year.
I've got them all in my mom's basement packed away in a suitcase. My Mom actually organises them so I know they're stored very nicely and carefully My kid is now in mA 18-24 and he's only 10 months so you can imagine how many clothes and accessories I've got put away for the next baby. Even if its a girl, she's wearing boy clothes, dammit :p
I had shopped early and according to season so I had many 6 month boys summer clothes but then my boy was small for his age and did not fit into those clothes. Many of the stuff got barely used. I kept them for sometime but then we moved from one state to another and my husband was against moving those clothes.
A lot of money got wasted on those clothes. If anyone in the family had a boy, I would have passed these on but we have girls around us.
When I visited Pakistan I gave away my boy's clothes to the maid there.
If you want to keep them for the next baby, buy those space bags. They take less space comparatively.
If not, pass it to friends or family or donate.
I bought a lot for 3-6 month period and 6-9 month period and I used those clothes very well. They were all donated coz we were moving to another country. I have saved a few of his clothes that are in good condition (pants, jackets are expensive so I saved those) IF the next baby is a boy I will use them otherwise they will get donated. I wish I could save them but I don't have space and I buy things on end of season sales so the money factor isn't too bad either.
