How did 9/11 affect your life as a muslim?

Chann ji raised a point in the other thread that a lot of muslims (those in US, for example) now say that 9/11 made them follow Islam more closely.

Did it do the same for you?

One possible explanation could be that after it became open knowledge that all 19 of the hijackers were muslims, then muslims in US, as a group, were being viewed with suspicion. As a result they bonded together. One obvious way to bond together and reply back to the community-at-large is by being more regular in the Islamic gatherings and community centers.

In many cases it is chase not follow

As a muslim i realized just how dangerous the idealogy of bloackheaded ppl like OBL and Al Qaeda is. Plus how bad unity levels are amongst the Muslim countries.

as a muslim i realized how viscious the hatred against muslims is in the hearts of the non-muslims....
they showed their true colors and started killing muslims without any proof or just reason....
made me understand this verse much better....

Quran 3:118
*O ye who believe! Take not for intimates others than your own folk, who would spare no pains to ruin you; they love to hamper you. Hatred is revealed by (the utterance of) their mouths, but that which their breasts hide is greater. We have made plain for you the revelations if ye will understand. *

it also showed how weak in faith the muslims have become, sparing a few, and how the unity of the ummah has remained merely a lip-service....

it also made me closer to Allah and His religion that He has chosen for us....
and one thing, most that effected me, was the assuarnce of the uncertainty of the time of death....
made me realize how close death is to all of us....
