How common is it for non Sunnis to marry outside of their sect?

Re: How common is it for non Sunnis to marry outside of their sect?

Honestly, it should be avoided... Someone from our family married a Shia guy and theres been many problems. How the kids are brought up and all; I mean even in Ramazan they cant break the fast at the same time... Obviously, if its an arranged marriage, the couple has a choice and they should marry someone from their own sect. With that said, it does happen in Pakistan but its pretty rare, and yes people frown upon it in the society. Most of us are very tolerant when it comes to respecting other people's beliefs, but if you marry someone who has the views that you disagree with, or have some sort of an inner animosity with, you are bound to open a can of worms sometime later. Remember, you have a choice, so think wisely.
